Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain mechanical and vacuum systems for fusion experiments.
- Collaborate with physicists and engineers on mechanical systems from concept to fabrication.
- Specify, procure, fabricate, and test mechanical hardware components.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and vacuum systems for various performance issues.
- Support experiment operations by validating and maintaining mechanical systems.
- Provide insights into experimental results regarding hardware performance.
- Contribute to the improvement of lab mechanical practices and documentation.
Job Requirements
- B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in hands-on mechanical engineering roles.
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD tools for design and modeling.
- Experience with vacuum systems and thermal management design.
- Familiarity with machine shops and fabrication processes.
- Comfort with hands-on assembly and testing in a lab environment.
