Responsibilities
- Design lenses and optical components for high-performance imaging systems.
- Develop and implement test setups, procedures, and data collection for product transition from R&D to production.
- Evaluate and analyze prototype and production optical system performance data.
- Collaborate with senior staff, systems engineers, and mechanical engineers to solve interdisciplinary technical problems.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Optical Engineering.
- Participate in projects scoped to be completed within the internship duration.
- Gain exposure to the initial sizing, concept layouts, analysis, and performance trade studies.
Job Requirements
- Pursuing a BS in Engineering, Physics, or Astronomy with a focus on Optics.
- Demonstrated first principles approach to optical problems.
- Familiarity with opto-mechanical components.
- Experience with Matlab, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Must have U.S. Person status and able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
- Ability to complete an in-person 12-week internship.
- Preferred experience with optical design software and optical component testing.
