Mechanical Design Engineer, Aerodynamic Prototype, New Programs

The role is for a Mechanical Design Engineer within the Aerodynamic Prototype team at Tesla, focusing on designing, building, and testing physical models in coordination with the Aerodynamics Engineering team.

• Design and create build plans for wind tunnel models
• Identify and secure resources for test properties
• Execute build plans for wind tunnel and on-vehicle tests
• Perform hand calculations and FEA for mechanical design decisions
• Assist in developing airflow management features on test hardware
• Work with various teams to create, assemble, and test wind tunnel models
• Innovate, develop, and improve processes continuously

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Aerospace Engineering
• Expertise in complex surface geometry creation within CAD software
• Strong understanding of rapid prototyping methods
• Experience with aerodynamic measurement systems and wind tunnel testing preferred
• Proactive in process improvement and project management
• Excellent communicator and time manager
• Willingness to travel occasionally for testing support
