Mechanical Design Engineer (Starship Components)

The role is for a Mechanical Design Engineer focusing on Starship components at SpaceX, involving the development of spacecraft and launch vehicle components.

• Develop state-of-the-art flow control devices and mechanisms
• Partner with various teams to achieve high component build rates
• Generate and maintain detailed drawings and specifications
• Spearhead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions
• Set rigorous design and testing standards for components
• Target zero in-flight anomalies of propulsion components
• Collaborate with teams to arrive at the simplest solutions for the vehicle

• Bachelor’s degree in physics or an engineering discipline
• 1+ years of mechanical design/hands-on manufacturing experience
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
• Experience designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems
• Project management skills and effective communication
• Hands-on experience with fluid, gas, or high voltage systems
• Understanding of fluid systems and solid mechanics principles
