The Manufacturing Engineer role at Tesla involves contributing to the development and launch of manufacturing equipment for battery products, overseeing projects from concept to full-scale production.
Responsibilities
- Ideate concepts for equipment and manufacturing systems
- Develop specifications and manage the RFQ process
- Lead and manage vendors, coordinating project scope across teams
- Validate and optimize processes from prototype builds to production
- Transition products from low-volume prototypes to large-scale production
- Act as lead manufacturing engineer or project manager on new automated equipment
- Travel domestically and internationally as required
Job Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering or relevant experience
- Experience in developing and implementing manufacturing processes in high-volume production
- Familiarity with deploying and validating new processes in automated environments
- Proficiency in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) and experimental design
- Experience in developing and launching automated manufacturing lines
- Understanding of industrial engineering concepts like line balancing and OEE
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Physics, Materials, or equivalent experience
