The Electrical Equipment Engineer at Tesla is responsible for the development and improvement of electrical equipment for battery cell manufacturing processes, working closely with cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Startup, validation, and improvement design of electrical systems and reliability.
- Set standards for electrical safety practices and LOTO procedures.
- Troubleshoot and support electrical equipment including motors, AC Drives, and PLCs.
- Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis on electrical failures and provide countermeasures.
- Lead safety and ergonomic improvements to production electrical equipment.
- Create detailed Maintenance instructions for complex repair work.
- Manage Continuous improvement projects based on key performance metrics.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of direct experience or equivalent 15+ years work experience.
- Hands-on experience with motors/drives and electromechanical systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in ramping electrical equipment into manufacturing.
- Proficiency in designing electrical equipment in a factory setting.
- Experience in creating/validating layouts and electrical schematics.
- Ability to develop operating and maintenance instructions.
- Strong problem-solving skills in high-speed manufacturing environments.
