Responsibilities

  • Design and build hardware of power electronics converters for automotive and energy storage applications.
  • Take ownership of hardware from specification to design, prototype, reliability validation, and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware engineering teams to design, validate, and manufacture power converters.
  • Develop architecture and model new power converter topologies for improved performance.
  • Advance Tau's intellectual property in power electronic systems.
  • Conduct testing and benchmarking of power electronics for current and future applications.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary teamwork to tackle complex electromechanical system challenges.

Job Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Familiarity with AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC applications and control of variable frequency converters.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics topologies and high voltage power semiconductor selection.
  • Experience with loss modeling and understanding of switching waveforms and semiconductor losses.
  • Proficiency with tools such as PLECS, PSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed-signal design.
  • Awareness of UL and CE electrical safety requirements relevant to power converter design.
