The Structures Design Engineer is responsible for designing and building flight hardware, including propellant tanks and primary structures, with a focus on manufacturability and hands-on involvement in the production process.
Responsibilities
- Design metallic structures and propulsion fluid systems under accelerated timelines
- Review specifications and engineering data to develop mechanical systems
- Update designs and drawings through engineering change orders
- Create detailed component and assembly drawings with GD&T understanding
- Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and leadership in an integrated team
- Manage large assembly models and drawings
- Solve complex problems and achieve a unified design direction
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- 1+ years of mechanical design and drafting experience
- Experience with 3D CAD software (NX, Solidworks, etc.)
- Solid understanding of GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
- Hands-on experience in designing hardware under defined timelines
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and communication skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident due to ITAR requirements
