Mechanical Design Engineer (Propulsion Components)

The Mechanical Design Engineer role focuses on developing and optimizing propulsion components for SpaceX's Falcon vehicles, contributing to advancements in space exploration and rocket reusability.

• Troubleshoot, develop, and ensure flight readiness of valves, regulators, and actuators on Falcon 9 and Dragon vehicles.
• Support and document component anomalies at build, test, or launch sites.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on valve and vehicle investigations.
• Generate detailed drawings and coordinate valve manufacturing with the production team.
• Develop and execute qualification test plans to ensure readiness for flight.
• Lead root cause investigations and redesigns to enhance reliability and production rates.
• Certify hardware for crewed flight and repeated reuse through testing and analysis.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics.
• 1+ years of experience in designing and analyzing mechanical systems.
• Understanding of fluid systems and solid mechanics principles.
• Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for problem-solving.
• Project management skills and effective communication across teams.
• Hands-on experience with fluid and/or gas handling systems.
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical devices and testing instrumentation.
