Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer

The Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer at Red 6 will lead the mechanical design and development of precision components and assemblies for augmented reality hardware systems aimed at military training and commercial applications.

• Lead the design and development of precision mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks.
• Create prototypes, conduct rigorous testing, and iterate designs for optimal performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system integration of mechanical designs.
• Perform structural, thermal, and tolerance analyses for mechanical systems.
• Generate CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners for high-quality production.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to team growth.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for high-performance hardware systems.
• Proficiency in CAD, particularly SolidWorks.
• Strong foundation in precision mechanical design and GD&T.
• Knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
• Experience with 3D scanning and additive manufacturing technologies.
• Advanced analytical skills, including FEA and CFD analysis.
