ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to serve as an Assistant Project Manager for the Water System Capital Program (WSCP). The intern will assist in managing water and wastewater system projects, ensuring the integrity and quality of the water supply infrastructure.

• Assist in supervising water and wastewater system projects.
• Plan, coordinate, and direct the implementation of design and construction projects.
• Monitor permit requirements and resolve project issues.
• Conduct field condition surveys and prepare reports.
• Review contract documents, codes, and regulations for compliance.
• Participate in field investigations to develop solutions for project objectives.
• Perform inspections of construction activities and attend required training classes.

• Baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechatronics.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience in operating a motor vehicle for site visits and inspections.
• Understanding of project management principles.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Critical thinking skills and independent data analysis capability.
• Permanent Civil Service status as a Mechanical Engineering Intern is required to apply.
