Product Design Engineer

The Product Design Engineer at Reality Labs will play a critical role in developing hardware systems for mixed reality (MR), augmented reality (AR), or new technology initiatives, collaborating within a cross-functional team to bring concepts from prototyping to mass production in consumer electronics.

• Lead the mechanical design for specific components, features, or systems.
• Contribute mechanical solutions as part of a cross-functional team.
• Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems.
• Work across the full product development cycle from concept to shipping.
• Collaborate with Asia-based Supply Chain for managing work.
• Innovate state-of-the-art technologies to solve complex mechanical problems.
• Travel to external vendors up to 20%.

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• 6+ years of industry experience in mechanical design.
• Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Knowledge of material properties and high-volume manufacturing techniques.
• Testing and analysis experience (FEA, Simulation, Design of Experiments).
• Preferred: 8+ years of experience in product design of consumer electronics.
• Preferred: MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
