Responsibilities
- Lead ring development projects, including defining project requirements and scope.
- Design complex moving parts in the piston and ring system of the Linear Generator.
- Assess failure modes involving thermal, structural, materials, and fluids interactions.
- Develop system models to inform component design based on field observations.
- Conduct accelerated life tests in the lab on benchtop and in-generator experiments.
- Review designs and analyses of colleagues in detail.
- Develop production introduction plans for new designs.
Job Requirements
- Master's in Mechanical Engineering with at least ten years of experience or PhD with at least seven years.
- Self-starter capable of leading projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Design experience with high-performance parts released to the market.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or comparable CAD software, including structural FEA.
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics and heat transfer; knowledge in tribology, fluids, and materials is a plus.
- Ability to generate 2D drawings for manufacturing, with GD&T experience preferred.
- Capability to develop system models for component performance analysis.
