Responsibilities
- Design a moderately complex subsystem or multiple individual parts from concept to production.
- Collaborate with suppliers of subsystems or individual parts throughout the design and manufacturing process.
- Identify the root cause of design, manufacturing, or reliability issues and develop corrective actions.
- Travel internationally to engineering sites to supervise mechanical validation, design, and assembly processes (e.g., 10-20%).
- Balance design considerations such as functionality, sustainability, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, and aesthetics.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
- 1 year of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
- Preferred experience in consumer product design and shipping multiple consumer products.
- Experience in collaborating with suppliers on part manufacturing and final assembly, including onsite factory support.
- Experience with system integration, including electro-mechanical components, waterproofing, thermals, grounding, or product architecture.
- Familiarity with multiple manufacturing methods used in consumer products and experience with NX and Teamcenter.
