Responsibilities
- Drive the design and optimization of spacecraft structures, mechanisms, and components using CAD and FEA tools.
- Package vehicle components considering heat dissipation and fields of view.
- Evaluate design alternatives and conduct feasibility studies for mechanical subsystems.
- Develop and maintain mechanical interface control documents for spacecraft components.
- Perform structural analysis and simulations to verify mechanical designs.
- Create assembly and manufacturing drawings using GD&T.
- Collaborate with suppliers and partners to ensure timely delivery of mechanical components.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with 2+ years in spacecraft/satellite applications.
- Deep understanding of mechanical first principles and hands-on experience with flight hardware assembly.
- Proficient with Solidworks or similar CAD and FEA tools.
- Experience generating engineering drawings to the Y14.5-2009 standard.
- Familiar with aerospace mechanical/structural design best practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team with minimal oversight.
