Hydro Controls Engineer

The role involves working with the Hydro Controls Engineering group at Emerson, focusing on engineered control system solutions for Hydro power plants in North America. The position emphasizes retrofit engineering, project management, engineering design, system integration, testing, and commissioning.

• Lead retrofit engineering solutions in the North American Hydro power industry.
• Develop Hydro Governor and Plant Control systems.
• Understand and apply mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical controls based on technical specifications.
• Craft new system functionalities as per customer specifications.
• Program various control logic styles (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Flow Diagrams).
• Adapt PLC and HMI software for custom applications.
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and commission new systems at customer sites.

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in controls and automation.
• Proficiency in computer-aided design software.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in technical and mechanical settings.
• Ability to travel up to 30% for project support.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Preferred: 5+ years of experience, familiarity with PLCs and DCS, and AutoCAD experience.
