The Automation Engineer will work within the Automation team at Applied Medical, focusing on designing and implementing control systems for advanced surgical technologies, while collaborating across departments to optimize manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement electrical and pneumatic control systems for automation solutions.
  • Develop, test, and maintain PLC and HMI software for machine control interfaces.
  • Integrate robotics, motion control, and safety systems into automation platforms.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Translate user requirements into technical specifications for system development.
  • Lead root cause analysis for automation failures and ensure long-term reliability.
  • Author and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance and knowledge sharing.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in designing and programming PLCs, HMIs, and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and pneumatic systems and safety standards.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, motion control, and system integration.
  • Ability to write clear technical documentation and communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to learn in a dynamic environment.
  • Preferred experience with safety PLCs and regulated manufacturing environments.
