Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and subsystems for LVADs using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Support simulation and analysis efforts (e.g., FEA, CFD) to evaluate design performance and reliability.
- Execute test protocols and assist in the development of custom test fixtures and methods.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and documentation efforts including engineering reports and specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, electrical, software, clinical, and manufacturing engineering.
- Interface with suppliers and internal teams to support prototype and production builds.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and quality standards.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field.
- Internship, co-op, or academic project experience in mechanical design, preferably in a regulated industry.
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and basic simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take initiative.
- Exposure to medical device development or other regulated industries is preferred.
