Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design, build, calibration, testing, shipment, and maintenance of soil probes.
- Mature probe design and support from quantity production.
- Design and build calibration and test fixtures for soil probes.
- Collaborate with soil science and machine learning teams to analyze data trends.
- Identify in-field soil sampling challenges and develop hardware solutions.
- Document design, troubleshooting, and failure analysis of probes.
- Travel within the US for in-situ user testing of probes.
Job Requirements
- 6+ years of mechanical design experience.
- Advanced skills in 3D CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, NX).
- Experience owning projects from concept to production.
- Familiarity with prototyping processes and manufacturing methods.
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Passion for climate impact and collaboration.
- (Nice to have) Experience with optical systems and Python development.
