Research Engineer

The Research Engineer III role at HWI involves applying technical knowledge in materials science and engineering to develop new refractory products and evaluate raw materials. This senior-level position is based in a state-of-the-art research facility and requires hands-on experience with analog equipment in a collaborative environment.

• Conducting laboratory research to develop new or improved products/processes/methods and documenting findings.
• Planning and performing plant/field trials and evaluating product properties with detailed reporting.
• Collaborating with other functions to share technological knowledge.
• Reviewing patents, submitting applications, and participating in technical meetings.
• Proposing innovative solutions to meet customer needs.
• Supporting continuous process improvement initiatives in line with HWI standards.

• BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 4-8 years of experience in refractory or related research.
• Experience with analog equipment.
• Knowledge of material analysis methods for refractories.
• Skills in operating advanced testing equipment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
