The role is for a Manufacturing Engineer in the Solar Power group at Sierra Space, focusing on the build and integration of solar array systems for spacecraft. The position involves collaborating in multidisciplinary teams to innovate and meet customer mission objectives using advanced manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Execute new product introduction (NPI) builds across various work centers.
  • Assist with the setup and programming of Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) lines.
  • Train technicians on automated equipment during initial setup.
  • Design custom fixtures for PCBA to enhance process flow.
  • Resolve production issues while maintaining design integrity and product quality.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in yield, rate, and cost.
  • Develop design for manufacturability (DFM) guidelines.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in SMT or PCBA process engineering or Solar Array manufacturing.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with optimizing assembly and soldering systems.
  • Experience with mechanical systems and mechanisms.
  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
