Power Plant Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Intern

The internship at Xcel Energy offers practical experience in the energy industry with a focus on supporting the reliability engineering team at Cherokee Station.

• Support the reliability engineering team at Cherokee Station
• Learn powerplant fundamentals and analyze root cause failures
• Work on red-lining engineering drawings and planning/ executing projects
• Gain hands-on experience in developing a robust reliability program
• Collaborate with different departments and work alongside experienced professionals
• Gain practical operations experience and mentoring
• Work part-time during the school year with the potential for full-time hours in the summer

• Enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program
• Mechanical, electrical, or controls engineering major
• Project management skillset
• Ability to occasionally travel to other sites in the Denver metro area
• Preferred coursework in thermodynamics and power systems
• Familiarity with mechanical components
