South Platte Renew (SPR) is passionate about renewing natural resources for Colorado’s future. Renewed water, is returned to the South Platte River watershed to support thriving aquatic and riparian ecosystems, recreation, and downstream agriculture, drinking water, and storage. Co-owned by the Cities of Littleton and Englewood, SPR is rated at 50 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) and is the third-largest Publicly Owned Treatment Works in Colorado, serving 300,00 people within a 108-square mile area in the southwest Denver, Colorado region.Additional resources recovered through the facility’s treatment process include renewable natural gas that is cleaned and injected into natural gas pipelines and biosolids that are land applied as a soil amendment to farmland owned by the Cities. Through the organization’s mission and vision, SPR understands the importance of stewardship and conservation to protect the most precious resource, water. SPR accomplishes this through the water renewal processes, education and outreach, advocacy through industry organizations, and a commitment to the environment and the communities the facility serves.
